i hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving! carlos and i hosted our first thanksgiving. it was intimate & special!
before getting into the meat of todays post, i just want to take a moment to express my gratitude for you all. this year my love/happiness cup has been SO full. thank you for the endless support & loyalty to thefitista. this year i am more thankful than ever! i get to follow my heart & live my dream everyday. it has been a very special year for me! i feel blessed to be where i am in my life.

now, let’s fight! every single day we battle something.
for some, it’s as simple as getting up early. for some, it’s more challenging like budgeting.
whatever it is for you, fight for it!
there are 3 main components to fighting for what you want!!
this is where all your planning takes place. consider this the bulk of the equation. start to think about what you are fighting for & why you are fighting for it! the reality is this part can be super overwhelming! to mediate the stress, create a timeline. be sure your timeline is realistic. one thing i have learned is that setting a goal with the intention to follow through only happens when you are willing to go all in. yes, all in. all in means committing the time, energy & sometimes even finances to accomplish your goal.
5 tips to setting a goal
- what is your goal, write it down in detail
- create a timeline that includes a description of what must be completed & by when
- come up with a backup plan if something does not go according to plan
- be sure to track progress
- continue on the path to complete your goal even when times get really tough
this is by far the hardest part of the equation! i can’t begin to tell you how defeating it can be to fight for something you want without seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. this is the part i have to tell you the brutal truth. sometimes, you fail. it some cases it’s small and modifications to the goal/timeline can be made. in other situations, you downright face plant & it’s over. guess what set-backs are actually the real mvp. true! without set-backs, mistakes or difficult situations we would never have the opportunities to learn and become stronger individuals. along your fight, you are bound to fall a few times. that’s part of the journey!!! get up & try again!
5 tips to handling set -backs
- what is plan b, what’s your course of action
- don’t dwell on what you can’t do & figure out what you can do
- evaluate what went wrong the first time & don’t repeat it
- stop, breathe & remain positive
- take a moment to reflect & learn from every set back that comes your way
giving up is not an option:
this is by far my favorite part of the whole equation & maybe for some the most difficult. this is where you become stronger than your fears. this is where all your hell yes moments happen. this my friends is where you decide that you will finish what you started. believe it or not, giving up is fuckin easy af. the reason i make it clear that it’s not an option, is because i full heartedly believe that if we just take a moment to overcome the fear of failure, there will be success! set- backs are one thing, giving up is another. giving up means you are done fighting. giving up means you didn’t want it bad enough. giving up means that you are willing to go down without a fight. bitchessssssss you are stronger and more capable than that shi.

- always remember why you started in the first place
- don’t allow anyone to stop you
- fuck no it’s not meant to be easy, that’s why you are fighting
- set-backs are not you giving up, keep moving forward
- know that you are going to get to the finish line, keep fighting
